Footprints on the Moon

Cathy's second recording was released in 1988, and has Cathy's songs "done up" with a great jazz band, including tenor saxophone. The players are all Ottawa veterans, and include Brian Tansley on sax, Ron Drake on piano, Paul Bourdeau on guitar, Bruce Wittet on drums and Phil Bova on bass. Guests on the session were Terry Tufts on slide guitar, and Mary Simpson on harmony vocals.  It was produced in Ottawa by Ian Tamblyn.

"Cathy Miller branches out in this session.
She leaves her gentle, somewhat pastoral moods
and material behind for a trip uptown with a backup band.
There's a decided jazz feeling and blues cast in her performance".

(Lois Moody, Ottawa Citizen)

"A bit of the blues a bit of jazz with a healthy dose of adult contemporary,
just excellent music and truly enjoyable."

(Gerry Massop, Nanaimo Free Press)

"If there's any album in this series of reviews to get a hold of, this is it.
Her voice is tantalizing, her original songs moving,
her arrangements on the mark,
and her obscure cover versions delightful.
Produced by Ian Tamblyn,
this joyous surprise is a MUST, one of 1988's best records".

(Campus Entertainment Review)

"Cathy Miller is not only one of today's best singers and songwriters
from Canada.
She is one of the best of the generation.
One of the true independent gems of 1988.

("Canada's Best" Tract Magazine,
1989 Independent Discotheque Music Review)

"One of the best independently produced releases
that I've had the pleasure to hear in a long time"

(Sonoma, California)
