It's winter here in Canada. The days are short and I'm spending most of my time in the sewing room.  It's a great time of year for creating!

I'm getting ready to head up to Duncan BC in a couple of weeks to take a class with world-famous quilt artist Katie Pasquini Masopust, and I'm VERY excited.  I've already started thinking out of the box on quilts I'm working on, and the timing of this Design Explorations workshop is just perfect for me.  There will be lots to tell you about in the next newsletter!

 Happy quilting,

If this is the first newsletter from me you've seen, welcome!  I post them here on the website once a month or so, when there's something I think you'll be interested in. You can sign up for email notifications of newsletters by sending me an email with "Subscribe" in the header.  If you'd like to follow our doings more often, join my Facebook "fan" page (link at the left) or the blog (where I often write about our travels).

If you would like to be removed from the email list, send an email to with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line.

I've just donated this quilt that I made in 2007, to our local Alzheimers group. It will be part of a fundraising silent auction this weekend.

The Quilt Show

In August John and I drove down to Colorado to tape an episode of The Quilt Show, with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims.  I demonstrated Mock Mola Appliqué, and did a quick tutorial on how to design quilts using Notan: Exploding the Square.  We sang a few songs, and generally had a fun day.

I've just learned that my episode is about to be broadcast!  Mark your calendars for MONDAY FEBRUARY 11th!

You can see a preview of the show here:

They have also given me a very generous offer: my fans and friends can see the entire episode during the week of February 17-24 FOR FREE!!!  Here's the link: It'll only work for that week, though.

If you like what you see, they have also offered you a 20% discount on becoming a member.  All you have to do is use the coupon code 232160506519

I hope you take advantage of this great offer - I've seen some of the shows they've done, and they are very informative, fun, and well produced.

If you liked Alex Anderson's "Simply Quilts", you'll love The Quilt Show too.

Songbook SALE!!

Because I'm so delighted that my show is going to be on The Quilt Show finally, I've decided to pass along my joy to you.

From now until the end of February, you can get your own copy of The Singing Quilter Songbook, which I published in 2011, for $39.99.

This means a savings of between 17 and 40% (depending on where you live).

The book is 136 pages of 68 songs (with chords, melodies and lyrics) from all 5 quilting CDs,
stories, photographs, patterns, superstitions, and lots of quilting tidbits
I've collected over 12 years of being the Singing Quilter.

Even if you don't play an instrument, there's lots in this book for you.
I've got some pages up on the website now so you can see for yourself.

Print out and mail the order form before the end of February to guarantee you get in on this sale.

Magazine Giveaway

Last month I did a contest to give away copies of Quilters Connection magazine with my pattern for a hand mola cushion.

I'm happy to announce that one copy went to Nancy Anderson in Pennsylvania
and the other to Soledad in URUGUAY!!!

Thank you, everyone who sent in their stories about their favourite quilting destinations in the world.
It was fun to read them all.

What I'm Working On

I'm still working on the 10-quilt challenge with my two friends.  I have completed four pieces now.  Seven left to go!  Here's the latest; it's called "Wave Theory":

This picture is actually three fat quarter sized quilts,
all done with my Mock Mola Appliqué technique.
They were very quick!
I decided to use a facing binding, rather than a normal one -
first time I've used this technique.
I'll use it again - I loved it!

The big news for me is that next week I'll be taking a 2-day workshop with Katie Pasquini Masopust!  One of the top art quilters in the world, she has an extraordinary body of work that I've been aware of almost since I started quilting.  I am beyond delighted to be taking a class from her, and it's only an hour's drive up-Island from me in Duncan. I know I'm going to come away with new design skills and charged up to get quilting!

Upcoming Tours:

Our schedule is clear until April 15th in Coupeville, WA. I should be able to get a whole lot of quilting done by then!

John continues to organize our huge tour in 2014, again around the perimeter of the US and Canada. The confirmed gigs are up on the website already. He has just confirmed our very first appearance in West Virginia for June 2013!! We STILL haven't sung in Mississippi or Arkansas.  Help!

For details on any of these performances, please get in touch, or visit the Tour Info page of the website where there are contact addresses for each performance.

This is my first quilt of 2013
A small (21" square) Trip Around the World
to hold all my quilt guild pins that I've collected.

Thank you for reading this newsletter.  Feel free to share it in its entirety.  If you have any suggestions of things you would like to hear about, please get in touch at .
